How do different brand name their printer cartridges?

As we all know, cartridges are typically sold in standard cartridge and high yield cartridge, of course, they also have extra high yield cartridge. Different brands name their cartridge in different rules. Today, let's see how they are named.

How do HP name their ink cartridge?

HP ink cartridges usually come in two sizes: standard yield and high yield. But it also has exceptions, like HP 902, which comes in three sizes: standard, high yield and extra high yield. Printers using HP 902 cartridges can use any of these sizes. Generally speaking, HP ink cartridges usually only come in standard yield and high yield that with the high yield version having “XL” at the end of the cartridge number.

Standard Yield: HP 902 ink cartridge, which print 300 pages.

High Yield: HP 902XL ink cartridge, which print 825 pages.

Extra High Yield: HP 906XL ink cartridge, which print 1500 pages.

How do HP name their toner cartridge?

The name of HP toner cartridge is different from that of HP Ink Cartridge. HP standard toner cartridges are marked with "A" at the end of the toner cartridge number, while high yield versions are named with "X" at the end of the toner cartridge number, moreover many extra high yield toner cartridges have "Y" at the end of the cartridge number.
